PRAY FOR NO RAIN!

Of course, we are all praying and keeping fingers and toes crossed that there will be no rain on Monday 31st - and according to the BBC website it should be a lovely fine day.  Rain should not deter people from enjoying this great day out - but there is one group of people for whom it could be a 'right shower'!

The many excellent perforners appearing on stage during the day will be bringing valuable instruments and sound equipment, which must not get wet.  Not to mention their voices, footholds, and fingers slipping on guitar strings!   But help is at hand!  Shipston Town Management Partnership - a 'Community Interest Interest Company' which spearheads and manages a number of community projects in Shipston - has stepped into the breach, with the offer of an enormous 'stand-alone' parasol covering the whole stage, which will keep all our acts dry and toasty.

Wool Fair acquires 3 worthy Patrons!

The Wool Fair organisers are very proud to announce that the following people have kindly agreed to act as our Patrons:

  • The Rt Hon Lord Howe of Aberavon
  • Mrs Roy Williams
  • Mr John Newbery

Lord Howe held important government roles during the 1980s, including serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Foreign Secretary.  Mrs Williams, of Armscote Manor, is a renowned potter and breeder of rare sheep.  Mr Newbery is a local farmer who has given invaluable advice and support to the livestock area of the Wool Fair.

All three will be picking the winning raffle tickets at the end of the Wool Fair on 31st May.  Make sure you're there!!

GOING, GOING ..... GONE!

HUGE SUCCESS FOR THE FUNDRAISING AUCTION!

The auction held at The George Hotel on Saturday 17th April was an unmitigated success, raising some £1600 to help the Wool Fair.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of Lou and Richard (The Richard Harvey Collection), and to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, a really professional event was staged with a wonderful array of really valuable and exciting items to bid for.  Not one item failed to meet its reserve price and, with a 'Champagne Happy Hour' provided by The George, a lot of fun was had by all attendees.  Some pretty ferocious bidding at times, but everybody came away happy!

Fun & Games from Whichford Pottery!

World-famous local firm Whichford Pottery has kindly offered some interesting 'pot games' to keep us entertained at the Wool Fair.

Here you can see founder Jim Keeling proudly displaying one of his pots - or is the pot displaying him?!
